"Pouring Out The Blues" (***) is a delightful acoustic Blues collection from Winston, North Carolina native Big Ron Hunter. Although playing for four-plus decades this is his disc. Possessing a pleasant, disarming voice Hunter picks his way through 15 Folksy originals like the ace in the hole "Play Your Cards Right". Picture Bob Dylan hooking up with Will Ackerman and you'd have something close. Hunter's acoustic Blues aren't the same ole Delta retreads but uplifting, melodic vignettes about life, love and the Blues. This record struck me in the same unique way that debut record by Tracy Chapman did. It came at the right time and so does "Pouring Out The Blues". Like Echinacea for the ears.

An emerging acoustic bluesman, Hunter plays and sings his own songs, combining a bluesy, yet sweet and melodic voice with his original brand of uplifting, hard-banging, acoustic blues.
Newcomer Big Ron Hunter hails from around Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and has just released his first album. Hunter picked up guitar in the 1960s and played in various local bands. He was mentored by bluesman Guitar Gabriel and developed his unique style while raising a family and working a day job. Retired now, Hunter is looking to break into the blues scene and play his music.
