MISSION STATEMENT OF WSYAI
The Winston-Salem Youth Arts Institute develops youth authors through collaboration with professional artists, who together seek franchise and non-violence in an at-risk and violent world.
----------
WHO THE WSYAI SERVES
    •    WSYAI serves youth who may be considered “at risk” by living circumstances, neighborhood, violence in the home, financial resources, or living with out one or more significant support systems.
    •    These youth live across Forsyth County, NC, and are recommended to WSYAI from the School teachers/social workers, guidance counselors, the WS Housing Authority, friends, word of mouth.
    •    Agencies may sponsor youth they work with.

WSYAI is founded to Develop Authors. WSYAI creates apprentice artists who author original written works in poetry, monologues, rap and lyrics from your life’s stories and circumstance. We develop our works for stage, film and visual art forums in collaboration with professional and renowned artists, who with us, will study: performance art writing, live stage, spoken word and film forums, design and production, and music.
VISION
Our determination is to empower ourselves with tools for self development and ad-vocational choice; to empower ourselves as an ensemble through the Arts and Impact Communication; to empower ourselves to exercise our civic, social, and economic rights and power; and to educate and re-educate our At-Risk-Society. Whenever we engage an audience our determination is to mean every thing we say and do. Our determination is to rock their world and move them towards change. We can only do that if we are daring, sincere, honest and willing to share who we are visibly, audibly, and visually.
